Here we go again, with Ghost
It's a long, tedious, repetitive story and you should probably skip it. The short version is that I've moved baty.net to Ghost...again.
Building and/or hosting my own stuff has become less interesting to me lately. I'm finding managing git repos and editing templates and dealing with deployment scripts to be tedious. For blogging, I kind of want to just type and hit post. Or at least get as close to that as possible while maintaining enough features to keep me from getting too twitchy about constraints.
I don't want to spend too much time rationalizing the move, but the more I thought about it, the more I liked the idea of just letting someone else deal with everything.
Why Ghost?
Ghost offers a nice combination of features and an editing experience that is as good or better than any I've tried. I very much dislike their "build and monetize your audience" focus, but once you ignore that, Ghost is a pretty good blogging platform.
So here we are. I'll migrate content over time. I've redirected the (many) old RSS URLs. I'm sure everyone subscribed via RSS will see a flurry of unwanted reruns showing up in their readers. Sorry about that!
Like everything, this is an experiment based on my current mood. Thanks for playing along.
