43Folders: Getting things done – again

I’ve fallen a bit off the GTD wagon of late. How do I know? First, I missed 2 things I should’ve easily gotten done recently. Another clue is that I feel like I have too many things to think about and I just *know* I’m forgetting something. And I’ve not done a thorough weekly review in 3 weeks. This is bad. Merlin Mann talks a bit about [getting back on the GTD wagon](http://www.43folders.com/2006/07/24/b2gtd-mind-sweep/) by doing a Mind Sweep. This is good advice for anyone who, like me, has not bet Getting Things Done. The takaway for me is to always remember to completely separate planning from doing….

> “Dont go tearing ass toward beginning every task you capture the second it occurs to you.”

And my favorite quote…

> “Remember, your brain is smarter than you, and it cant be tricked into thinking that things are taken care of when they actually arent. Its kind of a dick like that.”

  1. Your post turned me on to the Ricoh. Now I’m doing “much hand-wringing”.

Why do I want this thing?

    Somebody slap me. Please.

  3. I went through much of the same process at you, trying to get over the enormous cost of this digicam (it’s overpriced… they can get away with it since the GRD is unique, but their margins must be massive) and I’m lovin’ it.

    See you on Flickr smile

  5. Ah-ha, I’m not alone in my strange attraction to this camera! I just purchased the GRD last week. The more bad reviews I read the more I liked the sound of it. I don’t know why. It has so many features to experiment with. For eg I just found out about the MCont mode, which remembers the last 2 secs (16 shots) after you take finger off the shutter release. Pity I didn’t know about it when trying to take a picture of dolphins in the ocean just yesterday!

  7. It’s crazy how much camera review focus on pixels instead of actually using the camera in the real world.

I just picked up a GRD creative set a few months ago and am using it for everything from quick city shots to mountaineering and traveling.  It’s probably the most fun and funtional camera I’ve ever used.  In particular I love how Ricoh actually releases firmware updates that add the funtionality of their product.
